Short Bio

Lawrence Halksworth is currently studying with internationally renowned singers, Timothy Richards and Stephan Rügamer and is in his final Semester as a Masters student at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler.  In 2016, Lawrence was awarded a 1st class honours degree (BMus) by the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance of Mark Wildman. Since moving to Berlin Lawrence has performed as a Young Artist for the Les Azuriales Festival in Cap Ferrat/Nice for which he has been accredited in Opera Magazine. Lawrence sang the main role in ‘Der Diktator’ for the Neuköllner Oper Berlin and was interviewed by the RBB for a Tv segment. A lunchtime recital at the Konzerthaus Berlin closed out 2018.  In 2019 Lawrence made the transition from Baritone to Tenor. Despite this substantial Fach change, Lawrence has performed the role of Hanns(Jenik) in Bartered Bride with orchestra as his final production at the Hanns Eisler and has performed arias and duets across Berlin for large scale events such as Event Horizon 2019 at Kraftwerk Berlin. Recent performances have included Offenbach arias, duets and trios as a guest soloist of the Preußischen Kammerorchester in September 2019 and a solo tenor role at the Deutsche Oper as part of their world premiere of ‘Hearts Chamber’ in November 2019. Lawrence works well with others and is a member of an opera/folk song troupe ‘Walhalla zum Seidlwirt’. Together with whom he has performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin, Potsdam Nikolaisaal, Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festpiele and many other festivals and concert halls across Berlin and Germany.
